| University of Vaasa. Feat. Hellun Rellu. |
On 20.5.2009, I received an email from the University of Vaasa announcing me that I had been accepted to their programme [intercultural studies in communication & administration].
I thought for some time, whether I should move to Vaasa or continue to work at Kokkola and try to get the studies done on the side.
I opted for the second option. The head of the programme was not so happy about, to say the least.. I think he was sure, I was going to fail the whole thing. Showed him right!
My studies took me a bit longer than planned though..
But the end is close.
After driving the road Kokkola-Vaasa way too many times, writing many essays, reading many many books.
But good god I enjoyed it. Not all of it maybe.. but I was lucky to have awesome teachers and fantastic classmates. Furthermore, the University is Vaasa is quite an awesome place - seaside, modern building, nice cafeteria. I took it all in.
To be honest, I enjoyed these two last years the most. The discussions, the learning, the friends, the feeling of being in the right place.
And last but not least, the thesis. It's not supposed to be the most pleasant experience... but I enjoyed it. enjoyed reading about it, researching about it, talking about it, interviewing, planning it.. and even writing it and figuring out my stuff was starting to make sense. I wrote about language immersion, hanged around at the immersion kindergarten, met cool kids and great teachers. Maybe one day, I could do that with my life...
Two months to go. I am thankful it's soon over, but even more thankful that it actually happened.
